WG-1 Monitoring and predicting solar activity for Space Weather. The main objective of COST Action 724. Is the development of the scientific basis for monitoring, modelling and predicting Space Weather. This goal is to be achieved through the collaborative work of 4 Working Groups, each devoted to a specific task in the framework of solar-terrestrial relations. Working Group 1 is aimed at studying the methods of monitoring and predicting solar activity for Space Weather.

SOHO is approaching the date when its images will reveal its 3000th comet, a record-extending achievement. The contest is now closed but stay tuned to find the winners. In that time it has seen solar activity ramp up.

The Solar-Terrestrial Centre of Excellence focusses on the science from the Sun, through space, up to the Earth and its atmosphere and encloses a Space Weather application and service centre. Click here for all the news items.
Check out the upcoming meeting. SWIFF is a European Commission funded Framework Programme 7 project. Zero-in on the physics of all aspects of space weather and design mathematical models that can address them. Develop the software needed to implement such computational models on the modern supercomputers available now in Europe.
